1847 Great Britain Gothic Crown NGC Proof Details Plugged, Repaired
Up for sale is an 1847 Great Britain Gothic Crown. A mere 8,000 Gothic crowns were struck in the early reign of Queen Victoria. Many were carried as pocket pieces, which makes higher-grade examples scarce today. They are a very popular type worth many thousands of dollars in most grades. 925 fine silver, weighing 28.2760 grams.
The obverse features a left facing crowned bust, and the reverse has crowned shields of England, Scotland, and Ireland in cross formation with flowers at the corners. It has been certified as authentic by NGC as graded Proof Details Plugged, Repaired.
