A charming porcelain slop bowl from a tea service at Buckingham Palace. Marked to the underneath Buckingham Palace within the garter belt which itself states Goode & Co.
Measures 14cm in diameter x 5cm in height. The slop bowl would be used while making tea and the tea strainer deposited in this after being used with tea leaves. Also used underneath a tea urn to avoid drips on the tablecloth. This design is still in use in the Royal Household where they use this particular style of antique bowl and also additional pieces which now have the EIIR crest replacing GVR and later GVIR.
A few hairline cracks as shown in the photographs but otherwise in good condition. A lovely and rare item which I have never seen come up for sale before and which remains an eminently useable piece.
